Giving Hope, One Paw at a Time

R&R Dog Rescue Fund was born out of a deep passion for animal welfare and a life-changing experience that ignited our commitment to rescue. In 2021, we embarked on a journey to South Carolina to save a dog named Maggie from a shelter that had just suffered a devastating fire. Thankfully, the shelter staff were able to rescue the dogs, but they had no safe place to keep them. When we arrived, we knew we had to help.

Maggie was more than just a dog; she was a beacon of hope. Her resilient spirit opened our hearts to the world of animal rescue, and we quickly realized the urgent need for support in our community. Over time, our family grew as we welcomed Maggie into our lives, along with three other dogs and three cats. While our home was beyond capacity, we felt a profound calling to continue helping animals in need.

This heartfelt mission led us to establish R&R Dog Rescue Fund. Our goal is simple yet powerful: to rescue, rehabilitate, and rehome dogs and other animals who have faced neglect and hardship. We believe every animal deserves a chance at a loving home, and we are dedicated to making that a reality.

At R&R Dog Rescue Fund, we not only focus on rescuing animals but also aim to educate the community about the importance of compassion and responsible pet ownership. Through our initiatives, we strive to create a better world for all animals, ensuring that they receive the care and love they deserve.

Join us on this journey as we work tirelessly to give every dog—and every animal—a second chance at life. Together, we can make a difference, one rescue at a time.

Success Stories

Every rescue mission has a story. Here are a few of our favorites, showcasing the incredible journeys of dogs who have found their way to loving homes thanks to your support.

Maggie

Maggie was rescued from South Caroline after the shelter she was a had a devastating fire. Maggies mom was found pregnant and emaciated and brought to Whiskey Animal Rescue. Maggie is the sweetest girl and is full of life and energy. At 2 years old she tore the ligaments in her knee and had to undergo a $5,000 surgery which was paid for through generous donations and she is now fully recovered and playing happily

Luna

Luna, aka Loony Tunes, was brought back from the Bahamas with 30 other stray dogs after a hurricane in 2022. She suffered trauma to her mouth and her tongue hangs out of her mouth 24/7. Despite her rough start in life she is the happiest and friendlist girl we’ve met. She loves to snuggle and demands her belly rubs.

Ace

Ace was found in a ditch with his fur severly matted and very skinny. We brought him home, cleaned him up, and got him the medical attention he needed. While we wanted to keep him, we already have a full house of rescue/fosters (7 in total) so we found Ace a great home with a loving family and he’s now living his best life.

Tre

While our primary focus is dog rescue, we feel called to help any animal in need that we come across. Tre (for 3) was brought into the vet as a kitten while my wife was there for an appointment for one of our dogs. Tre was found after he was hit by a car and his left front leg was mangled. The vet was going to put him down because of the extent of the damage and not having anyone to claim him or pay for his care so my wife brought him home. We raised $1,500 for his leg to be amputated and he made a full recovery and lives happily among our pack.

Uncle Jaggers

We rescued Uncle Jaggers from Maui, HI, while we were on vacation. We stayed at a place that had a lot of stray cats around the property. We didn’t choose Jaggers, her chose us. Every night he would come inside and sleep with me. When I would go out for he day, he would sleep on my pillow and wait for me to get back. It was quite a hassle bringing a cat back from Hawaii, and we reorganized our flights and my wife and I had to fly separate airlines from HI to LA to be able to bring him, be we made it happen. Jaggers is an old boy and living his golden years in Florida like many retirees.

Vicki

Vicki adopted Erin in 2017 on a small island off the coast of Honduras. She was in very poor health and her owners neglected and beat her. Vicki chose Erin as her human and began following her everywhere. After a complicated negotiation with her owner they agreed to sell her to Erin and they spent the next 6 years inseparable. Vicki had the best life and tragically died of cancer in 2023. Erin’s experience of saving Vicki inspired her to continue helping animals in need.

Hoppin Bobby

Bobby was an iguana hunting dog in Roatan, an island off the coast of Honduras. His owners used him to hunt and on occasion hit him in the face with their machetes. Bobby experienced an even bigger trauma when he was chasing a rabbit one day into the road and was hit by a car. His leg was shattered and needed to be amputated. The owners no longer wanted him because they thought he wouldn’t be able to work anymore. The neighbours took him in as a foster and 2 years later Erin met Bobby and adopted him. Now he is living his best life with Erin in Colombia with the freedom to explore and go on hikes every day and cuddle his human every night.

Dozer

Dozer was a street dog in a small town in Colombia called Jardin. He began following Erin and Bobby one day as they hiked for hours. He was imitating Bobby’s hop (since Bobby only has 3 legs) and it seemed like he knew to choose them. It was as though Vicki told him Erin was the one that would save him from a life on the streets. He continued to follow them and by a stroke of luck Erin posted a video of him on social media and a family in Canada fell in love and wanted to adopt him. Erin began the process of getting him ready to travel, raised 2 thousand dollars towards his flights, paperwork, and neuter surgery. Now he will live his best life on a farm with 2 dog siblings and tons of room to run and play.

Kira

Kira was found one day on the streets during a bad storm in Utila, an island off the coast of Honduras. She was terrified of the storm and the shelter took her in. They waited and waited for someone to come and claim her but no one ever did. She was one of the sweetest dogs in the shelter and loved affection. Erin decided to foster her and she quickly fell in love with life as a pet. She was so much happier getting constant love and affection. Erin’s parents adopted Kira and unfortunately her health took a turn for the worse. With advanced heartworm disease and severe lung damage she was not strong enough to survive her heartworm treatment and she passed away. Her last year of life was spent being loved and taken care of instead of stressed in the shelter and it was an absolute blessing for her.

Grey Kitten

We saw a Facebook post from Palm Beach County Animal Control that they had bottle fed kittens that were going to be euthanized if they didn’t get fostered. It broke my heart to learn that they kill kittens who don’t have their mom to feed them. We picked up this little girl and have been bottle feeding her until she is 8 weeks old and can be adopted out. We didn’t give this little girl a name yet, we wanted to let her new family have the honor.

Medical Care

One of the primary goals of R&R Dog Rescue Fund is to be able to assist rescues, fosters, and those with financial difficulties pay for the necessary care so their pets can live a healthy and happy life. Medical care can be extremely expensive and it is one of the many reasons people surrender their pets.
